Foreword

Sorry, your browser doesn't support Java(tm).     The Library of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry was set up in 1965, the year of establishing the Chamber, with the aim of catering to     the information needs of the Dubai business community.  It is the oldest library of its kind in the region.  In 1975, the Chamber moved to a new building, and the library embarked on a new phase of expansion, acquiring numerous significant reference works and periodicals in both Arabic and English.  Its primary goal has ever been  to provide business information to the increasing number of visitors, researchers and students searching for information on trade and industry in the UAE in general and Dubai in particular.

When the Chamber moved to its present premises, the entire 6th floor was dedicated to the library.  The library material has been classified and indexed in accordance with international standards.  An integrated library automated system was installed, a long with a security system for the protection of library holdings.  A library's audiovisual section for CD ROMs and videotapes was set up to cope with the state of art business libraries all over the world. The inauguration of the library homepage and the services it encompasses, is an apparent land mark towards the completion of the “E-Library” project, in which digital library technologies enable users to reach information wherever they are, whenever they need it.
